Oscar, built 1910 in Ferrysburg , Mich., by the Johnston Bros. Boiler works. Originally steam powered, repowered in 1948 by a 120 hp Kahlenberg Heavy Duty Oil engine. Oscar represents one of the last remaining operating vessels to use this type of engine. Not a full diesel, the engine must first be heated by either diesel torches or glow plugs to bring it to firing temperature.   At 350 turns the engine screws out a big 1800 ft./lbs., this is the equivalant to 4 671 GMC diesels.  Uses about 6 gph at 6 kts.
